If you are like one of an estimated 75 million owners of a digital camera, at some point in time, your camera will more than likely develop one or more problems and would be in need of digital camera repair. Common problems include cracked LCDs, broken battery doors, jammed lenses or board level problems. There are a set of digital camera models however, that develop their own unique problems, all stemming back to a batch of defective CCDs that Sony produced and used in these camera models. (more…)
99 Ways to Make Money with Photography
The expense of taking pictures has gone way down with the advent of digital photography—after all, you don’t have to pay to process and print your photographs, so you can make up your business in volume.
Below you’ll find a list of 99 ways to make money with your digital camera. (more…)
Review: Canon Digital Rebel XSi
The Canon Digital Rebel XSi Digital SLR camera removes the complexity and intimidation usually associated with SLR cameras by providing Point-and-Shoot ease sought by casual photographers with the flexibility and expandability experienced photographers look for.
At the list price of $799.99 (below $650.00 at many online retailers), the Rebel XSi delivers enough advanced features that make it worth the hefty price tag.
First, the Rebel XSi has a substantial body that feels light yet is well-built. Therefore, you can get a solid grip while aiming for a steady shot. In addition, the menu buttons are more concrete so you are sure you have pressed a button with a “click” sound as feedback. On the other hand, users might find the Exposure Lock and AF selector buttons a bit too soft. However, this does not take away from this SLR camera’s substantial build.
With a 3 inch LCD screen with 230 pixels, users will applaud at how great images look on the display. The sensor’s high resolution means what you are seeing is what you get. However, there is a tiny but still apparent delay using the optical zoom (10x with this model). You will have a short wait while the image loads on the display.
The excellent viewing angle of the Rebel XSi more than makes up for any of its noticeable negatives since you can still see the screen quite clearly whether you are holding the camera straight up or at any other angle. Since SLR cameras produce better shots when the display is accurate, the Rebel XSi certainly delivers.
Finally, a feature that many users are buzzing about regarding this particular model is the Live View function. Users have the option to either manually focus, use one of two autofocus choices (both quicker ways), or use Live View in which the camera uses contrast detection to focus (the slower way). Unfortunately, Live View, while helpful, is not equivalent to Point-and-Shoot efficiency and speed. You do not simply point the camera and shoot using Live View to compose your shot. This would actually only work by using a tripod or placing the camera on a flat surface. While Live View is precise, it is also too slow for hand-held shooting.
All in all, if you are looking for a dependable SLR camera that you do not have to go into debt for, the Canon Digital Rebel XSi is the perfect choice in a balance of features and price tag.

Review: Canon PowerShot SD770IS
If you need a point-and-shoot camera flexible enough for daily use yet with advanced features that can offer high-resolution photos for photo-quality poster-size prints, we’d highly recommend the Canon PowerShot SD770IS.
This higher-end camera has 10 megapixel resolution, a 2.5 inch PureColor LCD II screen (for wide viewing angle and bright, accurate color), a compact, high-capacity Battery Pack NB-6L (able to shoot up to 300 images), and utilizes more storage options (SD memory cards, SDHC memory cards, MultiMedia Cards, MMCplus Cards, and HC MMCplus cards). The Canon PowerShot SDD770IS also has DIGIC III Image Processing, Red-eye Correction, 3x optical image-stabilized zoom lens with a shift type Image Stabilizer (IS) system, Motion Detection/Face Detection Technology, and a 1/2.3- inch CCD. Together, these features offer all levels of users a wide range of functionality in a compact package. It also has the reasonable price that many have come to expect from the Canon PowerShot series.
Furthermore, it is about the size of a deck of cards. Therefore, in addition to taking great photos, its compact, attractive candy-bar design lets you slip it in-and-out of your pocket with ease. However, what makes the SD770IS truly remarkable is its battery life. Even with the power drain low-light scenes impose, the SD770IS is dependable. Furthermore, while the 2 megapixel upgrade from the Canon PowerShot A590IS might seem insignificant, the total 10 megapixels of this model make a BIG difference especially if you want to crop your pictures later on. You can easily zoom into specific areas without losing any of the high quality. 10 megapixels mean photo-quality poster-size prints are even possible.
There aren’t many drawbacks that you can pinpoint with the SD770IS. Canon has literally included everything but the kitchen sink in this model. However, some users might wish that the battery cover wasn’t spring loaded. Currently, replacing the battery and ejecting the storage card requires too much “digging.” In addition, despite its conveniently compact size, the SD770IS camera controls are not as intuitive as other models. Its compact size also means a smaller screen size.
All in all, for its list price of $229.99 (and available at a discount at many online retailers), the SD770IS is a welcome upgrade if you’re looking for a powerful camera that produces photographs detailed enough to create photo-quality poster size. Considering its price and compact size, the SD770IS is indeed a petite powerhouse in a small package.
